SYNE Aerospace was founded on the belief that actionable satellite data should be accessible, affordable, and mission-specific. We design, build, and operate CubeSat constellations that turn orbital vantage points into intelligence that matters - for our environment, our oceans, our resources, and our security.

The world's most pressing challenges - climate change, food security, illegal maritime activity, resource depletion - share a common problem: insufficient, infrequent, and inaccessible data. SYNE Aerospace exists to solve that.

We leverage the CubeSat revolution to deliver high-cadence, high-fidelity satellite intelligence at a fraction of the cost and schedule of traditional large satellite programs. Our New Zealand home gives us direct access to world-class launch infrastructure and a growing sovereign space sector.

New Zealand's Māhia launch site gives direct access to a broad range of orbital inclinations - including sun-synchronous orbits ideal for environmental sensing - without the scheduling constraints of congested launch facilities elsewhere.

Data Scientist with 23 years experience in geospatial, remote sensing data, research and two prior deep-tech ventures. MPhil in Futures Studies and extensive experience in Geospatial and Remote sensing data sciences. Leads strategic vision, investor relationships, and orbital programme.

Geospatial Scientist with 15 years experience in climate, remote sensing, GIS data and ML systems architect specialising in atmospheric modelling and Earth observation pipelines. Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science. Leads technical stack and hexagonal data architecture.

Our Story

Built from the ground up

SYNE Aerospace was born from a simple conviction: that the Pacific needs its own space-based intelligence infrastructure, built by people who understand this region and its challenges.

2025

Company founded

SYNE Limited incorporated in Auckland, New Zealand is restructured for Aerospace and Defence. Seed funding secured from private investors to enable proof of concepts.

2026

First prototype design completed

3U CubeSat engineering design model completed. Detailed design and testing model is in-progress at third-party satellite systems lab.

2028

KARU 1 launch

First operational satellite constellation scheduled for launch from Māhia Peninsula. AIS data streams will be activated within 72 hours of orbital insertion.

2029

KARU 2 Constellations

12 additional CubeSat/LEO scheduled for Orbit. Team will be expanded across Wellington and Auckland.

2030+

Constellation expansion

KARU 3 hyperspectral mineral mapping mission scheduled. MEO constellation concept study underway. International customer programme launched.
